Obviously the size of your antlers will determine the size of the crate and therefore will impact on the cost of the freight.
It can be an option to split the antlers, which can save anywhere from NZ$200 – NZ$300 per shipment. Once your taxidermist receives them, he can glue them back together to their original form. It may pay to check with your taxidermist first though, as some will charge extra to do this.
When I split antlers I use a ‘V’ cut and take a measurement of the width of your stag and mark the points with tape that I have measured from. When your taxidermist puts them back together they will have the original dimensions.
